What it does — when you ask
Find the thing you know you have. Not by filename, by idea. “Where did I read that preventive maintenance costs more than predictive when the models are integrated?” — and it comes back with the paper and the passage.
Quote your own material, checked first. When Genora puts something in quotation marks and says it came from your files, it has already gone to the file and compared the wording. If it doesn’t match, the quotation marks come off. Each quote names the document it came from.
Work through what you’ve collected. Two readers said contradictory things about chapter three. Put both in front of it and ask what they actually disagree about.
Add a photograph of a page. A screenshot, or a picture of something you couldn’t get a file for. It’s read and searchable with the rest of your material, and you can ask about it straight away.
One thing worth being exact about: when your files don’t cover something, Genora will answer from general knowledge and say so. Those passages aren’t checked against your material, because they didn’t come from it.
What it won’t do
It won’t pass off a quote it can’t find. Anything in quotation marks from your material is checked against your files first. If it isn’t there, the quote marks come off.
It isn’t a general assistant. It holds one body of work. It isn’t built to answer whatever you happen to need that day, and it won’t improve if you use it that way.
It won’t reorganise your material. Your files stay as you gave them. Nothing is renamed, merged or restructured, and you can export everything in a form that opens without Genora.

Why “find it” is harder than it sounds
Most tools assume the thing you want is the most recent thing you wrote. In two years of watching people do this work, the document someone reaches for is usually not the newest one — it’s the note from four months ago, the earlier draft, the paper they read in the first month and half-remember now.
Search finds the file. It doesn’t find the idea you’re reaching for when you can’t remember which file it was in.
Who’s building this
I’m Bethany Warren. I’ve been building Genora for two years — because I kept hearing the same failure described the same way by people doing serious long-form work, and because it kept happening to me.
I don’t design it in a vacuum. I sit with dissertation coaches and with the people doing this work to learn how the work actually goes, and that decides what gets built next.

Two things most tools won’t tell you.
It knows every file you’ve added — the full list is always in front of it. For each question it reads the most relevant passages from across all of them, which is why relevance matters more than volume. Its answers are limited to what it actually read, not what it wishes it had read.
Scanned PDFs are the weak point. A PDF that’s really a stack of page images is read from those images. Short scans work today; long ones are in build. When a file fails, Genora tells you which one and why, rather than quietly reading part of it. No file is ever stored cut short.
Nobody has run a 400-document corpus through Genora yet. If that’s your situation, I’d rather you knew before paying than found out in month four.

Full refund within 14 days of any first payment, monthly or annual. One email, no questions, no exit interview. A refund doesn’t delete anything: your export stays available for 30 days. After that, monthly plans cancel any time with no further charge; annual renewals get the same 14-day refund window after each renewal charge.
Your price doesn’t move. Pricing is subject to increase, and it may or may not change later. Whatever happens, if you start now you keep $59 a month for as long as you stay subscribed.
If a failure on Genora’s side loses your record, I refund what you’ve paid. And I won’t argue the point with you — if you tell me your record is gone, that’s the end of the conversation.

Before you trust Genora with unpublished work
Your files are yours. You can export everything you’ve put into Genora at any time, and delete your material from your account.
Genora runs on third-party infrastructure — cloud hosting and a large-language-model provider — and your material passes through them to be processed. I’m not going to list guarantees about their internal handling that I haven’t personally verified.
